1972 Topps #768: Denny Doyle, 2B, Philadelphia Phillies

Denny Doyle spent the first half of his 8-year major league playing career as the Phillies' second baseman from 1970-1973.  He was traded to the Angels in 1974, and then again to the Red Sox in the middle of 1975.  Doyle made his only postseason appearance later that year, scoring 3 Runs and 2 RBI in an ALCS sweep of the defending WS champion A's, and scoring 3 Runs in 7 games against the '75 World Series champion Reds.  Doyle was released by the Red Sox during '78 Spring Training.

BV: $12.00
Cost: $2.25 (paid 18% BV)
Condition: VG 3.0 (worth 30% BV)
Completion: 779 of 787 (98% complete)
Comment:  With more time being spent out back with the bat, ball, and glove, my posts seem to have slowed up a bit temporarily.  The excitement of Spring Training is finally here, and I'm looking forward to spending time at the ballpark.  The card collection is still growing, with an anticipated completion date of Opening Day for the '71T and '72T sets (maybe).

  1. Doyle and Larry Bowa came up through the minors together, and were the highly-touted rookie keystone combo for the Phillies in 1970. Obviously, Bowa fared much better.
