2012 In the Media: Rico Petrocelli

My favorite baseball radio show is currently, "Remember When..." featuring Ed Randall and Rico Petrocelli.  The show airs every Saturday morning on XM Homeplate (now MLBNetwork Radio ch. 89).  To me, it embodies the spirit of baseball like few other radio shows today.  You'll have to listen to the show yourself to understand why it's so great.  I will just take this opportunity to feature the Topps baseball cards of Rico Petrocelli as a player--beginning with his last regular issue card in the 1977 Topps set.

2013 Hall of Fame Ballot: Roger Clemens

To a kid collecting baseball cards in 1987, there was little doubt that Roger Clemens would eventually be elected into the Hall of Fame.  As the first card in the '87 set for setting a strikeout record for 20 K's over 9 innings and coming off of his first World Series, what young baseball fan hadn't heard of Clemens?

Roger Clemens also had his first All-Star card in 1987, having made the '86 All-Star team.

1987 Topps.  This was his regular issue card.

1986 Topps.  The '86 World Series featured Red Sox vs. Mets.

2013 Hall of Fame Ballot: Jack Morris

Jack Morris will be in his 14th year on the Hall of Fame ballot in 2013.  Shown below are all of his regular issue Topps cards between 1978 to 1987.  In 1987 Morris helped his team to the ALCS but the series would be lost to the Twins.  Four years later, Morris would then help the Twins to a World Series Championship in 1991 after beating the Blue Jays in the ALCS.  The next year, he would help the Blue Jays to a World Series Championship versus the Braves.   He played 18 seasons from 1977 to 1994. Morris holds a total of 3 WS rings ('84,'91,'92).
