Joe Adcock went over to the Braves from the Reds to begin his 4th MLB season in a complicated 4-team trade. He arrived in Spring Training just in time to experience the Braves' 1st season as a Milwaukee ballclub after leaving Boston the previous season. Adcock was a rock at 1B for the Braves in 1953. He started 157 games at 1B when MLB was still under a 154-game schedule (?), and he played until the end of 148 games. He was 2nd in the league for Putouts and Double Plays Turned at 1B in 1953.
