Cliff Chambers was born on 1/10/1922 in Portland, OR. He grew up in Bellingham, WA and attended Washington State University. Chambers began playing for the Chicago Cubs in 1948. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1949, leading the league in fielding percentage as a pitcher the following year. In 1951, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals, where Chambers played out the rest of his major league career through 1953. Cliff Chambers passed away on 1/21/2012 in Eagle, ID at the age of 90.
