1950 Bowman #187: Lou Stringer, Boston Red Sox, IF

Lou Stringer was born on 5/13/1917 in Grand Rapids, MI.  Stringer began playing for the Chicago Cubs in 1941.  He left the MLB for 3 years to serve in the Army Air Force during WWII in '43, '44, and '45.  He was back with the Cubs in '46, but did not play in the Majors in '47.  In 1948, Stringer was traded to the Red Sox, where he would finish out his major league career after 1950.  Lou Stringer passed away on 10/19/2008 in Lake Forest, CA at the age of 91.

BV: $15.00 (for commons)
Cost: $2.85 (paid 19% BV)
Condition: G-VG 2.5 (worth 20% BV)
Completion: 7 of 252 (2% complete)
Comment: Despite the noticeable crease and top-to-bottom off-centering, this is one of the nicer '50 Bowmans I've listed to date.  The painted portrait in front of an old-fashioned fence is classic, as are many of the backgrounds from this set.
